We provide Myofunctional Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Buteyko Breathing as a non-invasive, holistic, approach to improve your quality of life. We assist in collaborative treatment of mouth breathing, tongue thrust, support, and screening for tongue and lip-ties for all ages, C-PAP alternatives, TMJ pain, frequent headaches, and facial pain. Our mission is to provide individualized therapy with care and love in a supportive setting.
All of the muscles in our face and mouth serve a purpose. They allow us to speak, eat, breathe, smile, and even kiss! Our muscles serve as guidance for the growth of our face, mouth, and airway. The ideal growth and function of these muscles allow us to have a big healthy smile, wide and open sinuses, and nostrils to breathe and feel our best. Over time, a disordered pattern of the function of one or some of our orofacial muscles can lead to ill-wanted adaptations (tongue thrust). This would be a diagnosed Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder.
An Orofacial Myologist, also known as a Myofunctional Therapist is trained to diagnose each individual’s needs and disorders using Myofunctional Therapy. We use neuromuscular exercises to repattern the lips, tongue, and facial muscles to function and stay in their proper place. We use positive reinforcement and fun to help children and adults break dysfunctional habits. This may include finger, thumb, pacifier, or blanket sucking. This can be done at any age, but earlier treatment proves better outcomes.
The QOM designation indicates that the professionals holding this credential have been trained according to the highly recognized instructional standards of Neo-Health Services, Inc. and adhere to the values and principles expected of a qualified orofacial Myologist.
Buteyko breathing is a method to reeducate the body on breathing better, and more functional. Our therapists are certified in the Buteyko Breathing Method. Teaching our body how to breathe better is an integral part to our goals in Myofunctional Therapy.
